Vice President & General Manager, 3PL
Sylmar & North Hollywood, CA
·
Full-time · Onsite
·
Reports to CEO & COO
Job Overview
Product Society is a vertically integrated product development, manufacturing, and fulfillment partner for beauty, personal care, and consumer brands — bringing R&D, formulation, testing, manufacturing, and third-party logistics together across our North Hollywood and Sylmar facilities. Our 3PL operation runs from a dedicated 40,000-square-foot site in Sylmar, part of a combined 120,000-square-foot footprint.
We’re seeking the executive leader accountable for the full performance of our third-party logistics business — leading 3PL as an integrated business unit, not simply a warehouse operation. As Vice President & General Manager, you’ll own the P&L, strategy, customer experience, account management, customer service, technology and data, fulfillment operations, talent, and profitable growth.
The business has meaningful customers, infrastructure, and growth potential — and it also needs continued stabilization, clearer processes, stronger systems, and a more complete leadership structure. The right leader can step directly into an unresolved issue when necessary while building the people, processes, data, and operating cadence that prevent the organization from depending on individual heroics.
You’ll have clear authority and accountability to design the 3PL organization, build the leadership team, establish operating and service standards, prioritize technology and process investments, and make business decisions within the agreed strategy and budget — creating a business that scales through capable leaders and repeatable systems, not permanent dependence on one person.
Responsibilities & Duties
Business Strategy & Financial Performance
Own the 3PL strategy, annual operating plan, budget, forecast, capital plan, and full P&L.
Be accountable for revenue, gross margin, operating profit, cash discipline, freight economics, labor productivity, and profitability by customer, channel, and service line.
Build trusted cost-to-serve, billing, charge capture, and client profitability reporting so decisions are based on complete and timely information.
Establish disciplined weekly and monthly business reviews with clear metrics, decisions, owners, and follow-through.
Translate growth goals into practical capacity, staffing, technology, and investment plans.
Business Stabilization & Operating Excellence
Assess the current business, identify the highest-risk customer, service, financial, and organizational gaps, and lead a sequenced stabilization plan.
Create one operating management system across client services, onboarding, technology, warehouse operations, billing, and finance.
Set clear service levels and management routines for inventory accuracy, order accuracy, on-time shipping, dock-to-stock time, issue resolution, and new-customer launches.
Build durable SOPs, controls, escalation paths, and root-cause corrective-action processes that reduce repeat failures.
Use continuous improvement to increase throughput, lower cost, and strengthen reliability without compromising safety or customer experience.
Customer Experience & Account Management
Lead the account management and customer service teams across onboarding, ongoing service, issue resolution, renewal, and expansion.
Serve as the executive relationship owner for key customers, ensuring the team communicates with clarity, urgency, and accountability.
Establish customer segmentation, service models, business reviews, performance reporting, escalation protocols, and clear ownership for every account.
Improve retention and customer trust while identifying responsible expansion opportunities within existing relationships.
Ensure commitments made during sales and onboarding are operationally achievable, properly scoped, and financially sound.
Technology, Systems & Data
Lead internal technology personnel and external partners responsible for the WMS, customer integrations, EDI, e-commerce and marketplace connections, carrier systems, automation, and reporting.
Set and govern the technology roadmap based on operational impact, customer requirements, scalability, risk, and return on investment.
Ensure systems, data, and workflows connect accurately from customer onboarding through inventory, fulfillment, billing, and reporting.
Build trusted dashboards and exception reporting for customers, functional leaders, and company executives.
Replace fragile workarounds with documented, supportable processes and clear system ownership.
Warehouse & Fulfillment Operations
Lead through the warehouse and site management team while maintaining enough floor knowledge to diagnose problems, test assumptions, and make sound decisions.
Oversee receiving, put-away, storage, inventory control, DTC and retail fulfillment, kitting and value-added services, returns, freight, and reverse logistics.
Build effective labor, shift, capacity, layout, and peak-planning models, and determine when process, staffing, automation, or facility changes are required.
Maintain rigorous inventory integrity, lot and batch traceability, FIFO and FEFO discipline, retail routing compliance, and audit readiness.
Maintain strong safety and regulatory standards, including OSHA and Cal/OSHA, fire code, hazmat, DOT, and IATA requirements applicable to the business.
Strengthen the handoff between Product Society manufacturing and 3PL so finished goods, inventory data, launch timing, and customer commitments stay aligned.
Profitable Growth & Commercial Leadership
Partner with the founders and commercial team on pipeline qualification, solution design, pricing, proposals, facility tours, and contract scoping.
Own the 3PL service catalog and pricing framework, grounded in actual cost-to-serve, complexity, capacity requirements, and target margins.
Determine customer fit, operating requirements, implementation effort, and capacity before new business is accepted.
Create a repeatable path from qualified opportunity through implementation and steady-state account ownership.
Grow revenue without accepting volume that weakens service, distracts the organization, or fails to meet profitability requirements.
Organization & Leadership
Design the organization required to support the current business and future scale, with authority to hire and build the team within approved plans.
Hire, develop, and hold accountable leaders across account management, customer service, technology and implementation, warehouse operations, and business support.
Establish clear roles, decision rights, scorecards, meeting cadences, and performance expectations across the business.
Develop managers who can run their functions independently while operating as one coordinated leadership team.
Step directly into difficult problems when a process or owner is missing, then convert the solution into a repeatable process and transfer accountability to the right leader.
What Success Looks Like in Year One
The 3PL business has one accountable leader, a clear organization, and capable functional owners beneath that leader.
Service is stable and predictable, with trusted performance reporting, disciplined issue resolution, and measurable improvement in customer outcomes.
Leadership can see accurate financial performance by customer and service line, including complete billing inputs and reliable cost-to-serve data.
Customer onboarding, account management, customer service, operations, technology, and billing operate as one connected system.
Inventory accuracy, order accuracy, on-time shipping, retail compliance, and issue response consistently meet agreed service levels.
The technology roadmap is prioritized, governed, and tied to customer, operating, and financial results.
Existing customers are retained and expanded appropriately, and new business is priced, scoped, launched, and serviced profitably.
The business can grow without service quality, customer trust, financial control, or management discipline deteriorating.

Multi-function executive experience — you’ve led leaders across warehouse operations and adjacent functions such as account management, customer service, implementation, technology, data, finance, or commercial solution design.
Stabilization and scale — you’ve inherited imperfect processes, addressed urgent problems, built a stronger operating system, and scaled volume without losing control.
Financial command — you understand 3PL pricing, rate cards, cost-to-serve, labor planning, freight, budgeting, client profitability, billing controls, and capital decisions.
Technology fluency — deep working knowledge of WMS platforms, e-commerce and marketplace integrations, EDI, carrier systems, reporting, and automation.
Omnichannel depth — direct experience with DTC, B2B, retail, and wholesale fulfillment, including major-retailer routing and compliance requirements.

How You Lead
You bring urgency without creating chaos. You’re direct, calm, analytical, and accountable. You can move from a customer meeting or financial review to the warehouse floor, understand what’s actually happening, make the necessary decision, and then ensure the right leader, process, metric, and system are in place. You build teams that solve problems at the right level — and a business that performs even when you’re not in the room.
